Courageous, tenacious, full of grit…our members organize against factory farm expansion.
Last week, over 30 CCI members from Adair, Union and surrounding counties met with Bill Ehm, Director of the Environmental Services Division of the DNR, and Ted Petersen, DNR Field Office 5 Supervisor to deliver a strong message: We don’t want any more factory farms in Adair and Union Counties. We don’t want any more factory farms in Iowa.
This meeting was in response to Cargill, Brent Rastetter (member of the Environmental Protection Commission) and the Geidels applying to expand 3 factory farms in Adair and Union counties that would house 14,880 corporate hogs that will produce 3,806,950 gallons of toxic liquid manure every year.
What does this mean for Dean Anderson of Adair County? Watch his video testimony.
The good news: we successfully convinced the Adair County Supervisors to deny the two factory farms in Adair County—VICTORY! The Geidels have reapplied to expand, but true to CCI form, our local members aren’t backing down.
